Is my tranny shot? What else could it be?

You could of broke one of the bearing holders in the rear end where the axle goes into the differential. Bought a nice LTD that the guy thought the trans was bad. Have someone look at the driveshaft while you put in gear. If it's spinning, you need a new rear end. And not just the diff. The whole housing. The bearing caps break the mounting.
